What can you expect from our journey through therapy?
Our work will help you understand the areas of your life in which you are feeling stuck, and identify specific goals to help you move away from patterns that are not serving you.
We will look at what's happening in your life right now, while also exploring the possible impact of past events and relationships, at a safe and comfortable pace.
This process itself can propel you towards change as you begin to understand why you've made the choices that you've made. You will also start to see your past in a new light, as you move away from shame and self-blame towards self-compassion and understanding.
Next, we will use guided methods and modalities to tackle the issues with which you are contending in the present, whether it be anxiety, depression, trauma, or relationship challenges.
The guided methods I use are a combination of evidence-based approaches that have proven to lead to client success. When working with couples, I primarily use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), a roadmap to work towards increased connection, communication, and intimacy in your relationship.
For individuals, I continue to approach my work from a trauma-informed, attachment-based perspective, while incorporating methods, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Schema Therapy.
I've been on the other couch....
When I was about to take a college gap year, I began to consider that I might need help of my own. As someone who was most comfortable supporting others and being the one who "had it all together," admitting that my own issues were not going to go away, no matter how long I tried to ignore them, was scary. Yet, that uncomfortable realization led to one of the best choices I ever made: I finally gave myself permission to be vulnerable and ask others for help.
In fact, one of the reasons I am particularly passionate about helping others navigate relationship issues and increase emotional intimacy by being open with their partners is because these are the exact skills I work to incorporate daily in my own life and relationships.
I know it can feel hard to start this process, but if you've resonated with what's here, then I'd encourage you to give yourself the gift of reaching out for therapy. The process can truly be transformative, and I will do my utmost to ensure that you feel as comfortable as possible.
I look forward to the opportunity of working with you!
